Automation Engineer (RPA/AI)

Overview

Many of our clients carry large RPA estates that made sense five years ago and are liabilities today. As a senior contract Automation Engineer you will assess these estates, decide what to keep, kill, or rebuild, and modernize the survivors into AI-native automations with proper orchestration and observability. This is an initial 12-month contract with strong likelihood of extension.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing RPA portfolios (UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate) for value and risk
• Design modernization paths from screen-scraping bots to API-first, AI-assisted automation
• Implement intelligent document processing and LLM-powered decision steps
• Establish automation governance: monitoring, exception handling, and human-in-the-loop patterns
• Coach client automation teams through the transition

Requirements

• 5+ years in automation engineering, including production RPA at scale
• Experience with at least two major RPA platforms
• Programming ability beyond low-code (Python, C#, or JavaScript)
• Experience integrating AI services into automation flows
• Fluent English

Preferred qualifications

• Process mining experience (Celonis or similar)
• Power Platform expertise
• Experience running automation CoEs

Nice to have

• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks
• Change management experience
• Additional European languages

Working model

Fully remote within the EU. We meet in person for quarterly team weeks and project kick-offs; everything else is designed to be asynchronous-first.
