Backend Engineer (Node/TypeScript)

Overview

Atlantsson's Software Engineering team builds the custom services that make enterprise AI real: APIs, event-driven integrations, and internal products that connect intelligent workflows to systems of record. As a Backend Engineer in Berlin you will design and ship TypeScript services with strong typing, real tests, and observability from day one.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Node/TypeScript services and APIs for client engagements
• Build event-driven integrations between AI services and enterprise platforms
• Own quality: testing strategy, CI/CD, and production observability
• Collaborate with AI engineers on service contracts for LLM-powered features
• Contribute to shared internal libraries and engineering standards

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend development with Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong API design skills (REST, webhooks, event-driven patterns)
• Experience with relational databases and data modeling
• Production experience with at least one major cloud provider
• Fluent English

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with message queues or event streaming (SQS, Kafka, or similar)
• Familiarity with LLM API integration patterns
• German language skills

Nice to have

• Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code
• Prior work in consulting or agency environments
• Open-source contributions

Working model

Hybrid — typically two to three days per week in the office with your team, the rest wherever you work best. Client on-site visits are planned in advance and never a surprise.
